Not wanting to spend another night with the fishing fleet we headed south to Lisbon and the coastal port of Cascais, where we would be waiting for our son Douglas & his girlfriend Rachel to join us for a week.
Cascais is a new marina about 30 km from Lisbon with some very large and expensive yachts. They were gearing up for the Audi Med race series and also the opening heats of the America's Cup to be held in August this year.
We took a train into town to explore the sights of Lisbon, ride the vintage trams and visit the Port Wine Institute. All ports produced were available to taste, most from less than 2€ but with a good vintage at up to 100€ a glass !
We also discovered that the Portuguese have good trading links with Argentina and this was reflected in the quality of the steaks in the restaurants.
