A day when we would have paid anything for a accurate weather forecast !
We left Ayamonte late morning to take the high water across the Guadiana river estuary and head for Mazagon. The forecast was for SE winds 12 Knots gusting to 18. It started like that, but half way on this 30 mile journey the wind turned East and strengthened. We gradually reefed both main and genoa as the winds became a constant 22 knots and started gusting to above 30. We had a very uncomfortable motor sail for the last 3 hours and entered the Huelva River for Mazagon with over 3 metres of very rough swell and over 30 knots of wind on our tail. This was our roughest journey to date and not one we wish to repeat.
Mazagon
How do you build an extension to your marina? You dig out a large hole and then breach the mud bank to allow it to fill with water. I hope the mud bank holds while our boat is here.
