Our first crossing to France 2009

19th July Monday – To Audierne

We gathered enough courage to sail through the Raz de Sein leaving Camaret at 7am to catch the slack water through the Raz.. The Raz is infamous for rough seas in wind against tide and there are many photographs of La Vielle light house in such conditions. We were pleased that on our trip we had light winds and sunshine as we passed the light at 11am slack water. We approached Audierne picking our way through the lobster pots and using Garmin on a 50 metre scale to follow the unmarked 1 metre dredged channel to the town quay pontoons
