Gijon, about 40 miles on from Llanes is the principle port and a major city in Asturas. We arrived in the middle of the Sidre (Cider) festival and just had to join the locals in breaking the world record for Cider pouring & drinking. This involved 7,500 people on the beach, pouring Sidre in the traditional Asturan manner, bottle held high & glass low. The idea is to pour on the edge of the glass to aerate the sidre before drinking ! Event confirmed for The Guinness book of records,
